Reduce cycle theft project!

April 20th, 2017

A groundbreaking partnership project is set to reduce cycle theft on the C2C train line. The British Police have reached out to both The Comfy Saddle and Cycles UK to help them reduce cycle theft on the C2C line, in partnership with the Southend Road Safety unit and Cycle Southend of Southend borough Council. The group will be offering free cycle marking and entry on to the bike register database, at the majority of train stations from Shoebury to Upminster. Bicycle marking , using the BikeRegister Selectmark system reduces the risk of theft and also significantly increases the likelihood that stolen bicycle will be returned to it’s rightful owner. The dates of the Southend area events are: Leigh on Sea 17th May Shoeburyness 24th May Chalkwell 14th June Thorpe Bay 28th June Westcliff 12th July Southend East 26th July Southend Central 9th June. 6.00-8.00am

A guided bike ride to the Poppies wave

Wave has been designed against the fantastic backdrop of the Thames Estuary.

The spectacular sculpture features a sweeping arch of bright red poppy heads suspended on towering stalks, which will rise up from Barge Pier to create a spectacular wave towards the Thames Estuary.

This will be a leisurely ride using mainly cycle paths and shared space along the seafront. We will stop for 30 minutes to admire the installation before returning to Chalkwell Shelter via the same route. You may opt to stay for longer and make your own way home.

This ride is best suited to road, mountain or hybrid bikes. Remember to bring a drink, spare inner tube and wear clothing appropriate for the weather.
Meet at Chalkwell Shelter at the bottom of Chalkwell Avenue, SS0 8HW
Good Friday.14th April Starts at 10.00am
