Who is Petra Wiltshire?
Petra Wiltshire is a former GB hockey international who turned to cycling to recover from an injury. Her racing career spans 20 years, she’s still competing as one of Europe’s leading enduro-downhill racers. A two-time World Masters Champion and European Masters Champion, she splits her time between the UK and Switzerland where she works as a ski and cycling guide.
What was your first bike?
PW: Raleigh Tomahawk. I wanted a chopper and this was a poor version!
What are you riding now?
PW: Scott Voltage 10 Ltd and Ransom 10 Ltd
Can you fix a puncture?
PW: Yes!!! But I never get them!!!!
How quickly?
PW: Depends if its raining or not.
Do you wear a helmet?
PW: Always.
What’s the one thing that could make your cycling life easier?
PW: No mud.
Race pace or leisurely dawdle?
PW: Depends, if I am going up its dawdle. Going down is more speedy.
Tarmac or dirt?
PW: Dirt
Baggy or skintight?
PW: In between somewhere!
Where do you see cycling being in 5 years’ time?
PW: Hopefully more people owning and riding bikes rather than cars!
Where’s your dream cycling holiday destination?
PW: I live there...Champéry, Switzerland.
What are your three top cycling tunes?
PW: Anything with a beat... Empire of Sun, Green Day.
What’s your top cycling tip?
PW: Smile and enjoy it.
